Interviews
Lavander. 1. If you found a magic lamp that let you have one wish, what would you wish for? Ideally probably superpowers/magic, but in reality I wouldn't just trust I could get a benevolent wish from it, especially if it were a djinn. I'd do research and pull other people in on it. 2. Pick a book, any book. Now pick a favourite character. Who is this character and what does he/she do in this book? How about Cat from the Cat series (Psion, the short story Psiren, Catspaw, and Dreamfall). He is... me. More than any other character anywhere, more than my own characters. He's a telepath, and I'd rather not spoil what he does in the series, but some pretty awesome stuff happens. 3. When you met me in person, was I completely off of what you imagined or was I really like what I am like online? ...You were pretty much exactly like I imagined. I can hear the exclamation points when you talk. 4. Why did the dead baby cross the road? Shut up, Eddie. 5. Wanna come to Canada and live with me?! :D Mrm, tempting. Nosfertum. 1. So uhh... what is it you do? You a student or something? I run an escort service that provides gentlemen with the company of a young lady for a short whi--Yes I'm a student. Biology major, freshman. 2. Do you own any pets? No. Not allowed in the dorms. I suppose I'd probably have a kitten/cat if I could. 3. Where's the most exotic place you've ever been? Hrm. Exotic as in special, unusual? Maybe Niagara Falls. 4. What's the meaning of life, the universe and everything? Now that's a complicated question. Or maybe just a too narrow one. 5. How many roads must a man walk down before you can call him a man? I define 'man' as a biological issue rather than a social one, which means when a male human stops growing/developing, which tends to be around 25. ('Woman' would be a bit younger, but strangely I still think of people my age, male and female, as boys and girls due to immaturity. Damn, so much for my objectivity.) I certainly don't think turning 18 instantly turns you into an adult, and in terms of experience... I've known people who were 14 who had been through more than people were 40. Adults tend to have more responsibilities to meet but I've met plenty of adults who can't meet their responsibilities. It's all pretty variable. I really don't tend to define people like that, except that I classify some people as 'innocent', and others, who might be REALLY young, as not. | | Saturday, October 15th, 2005 | | 2:46 pm |
Interview by Accioayla
1. What two books do I need to run out to the store and buy RIGHT NOW? Why? A GAME OF THRONES, by GEORGE R. R. MARTIN. BUY IT RIGHT NOW! Don't even sit there, go, go! The Snow Queen, by Joan D. Vinge. I think you'll really like that one. Aside from your professed interest in the Snow Queen (an interest you share with me), Joan D. Vinge is really awesome, and this book is one of the best I have ever read in my life. Even the vocabulary is beautiful. 2. Do you find it amusing (or anything else...) that I can tell when you've gotten up out of your chair to pace around the room during a scene? Really freaking amusing and also very neat. 3. Clara and Davey, what are your favorite things about them? Their closeness and the way they know each other so well and just click like they're totally in synch. 4. I saw Moulin Rouge finally, are you happy? :D YES! It's about bloody time! Actually I've been aware of this and think you, me, Nicci, and Dani should all see it together some time. 5. What is your favorite food overall? I don't know. I like meat, especially steak. I like fruit--lots of fruit, though peaches might be my favorite. I like crab, I like sushi. Interview by Carla
1. Given that money, social stigma, and pressure from others were not issues, what would you most want to do with your life? What would bring you the most joy? I really don't know, yet. I may take a job in lab sciences because I enjoy it, but I would really really like to be a writer. I'd also like to be taking martial arts full time and maybe do some boxing. 2. Why do you like martial arts, why do you train? *laughs* You mean martial arts I haven't been to since February? I really do like martial arts, actually. I just haven't gotten nearly the quality of training here that I was able to tell you had based on the way you moved, and I'm honestly getting more from just physical exercise (like, through ROTC) than I got from the martial arts studio here. I want to train because I want to better myself. Being able to take care of myself is something that has always been important to me, but I like the... movement too. The way I feel when my body is flowing and graceful. The opportunities for self-improvement not just on a physical level. The discipline, like a steady rock in my life, where I go and I just snap into something totally right, where I walk into that dojo and I am a student. Also, when I did the boxing match last year (boxing is technically a martial art)... it's hard to explain. Yes, the quality of opponent sucked, most people were just brawling, and it was only three one-minute rounds, and I wasn't really trained for it. But after the first minute I slipped into a mental place where there was no thought, only action, movement, and I fought better than I have in years. It's a mindset I want to go back to, one I never really reached in katas because, frankly, the discipline and training wasn't all that great at the local dojo. It's a part of who I /am,/ not just something I do, and I really miss it. 3. Where would you like to travel? All over the place, honestly. Australia. Japan. I am dead certain I will see New Orleans eventually. Egypt, and probably the Serengeti as well. Parts of Central and South America. There was a valley in South Africa I saw on TV once, that I would like to see, temples in SE Asia. There are many, many places I'd like to see, and go to. 4. If you had the chance to impart wisdom to a child, what message would you stress most? I don't like stressing messages, like I have the One Universal Truth. I prefer to Guide, as a teacher, rather than tell, and get them to learn on their own. Teach them to be open and decide for themselves, rather than blindly accepting anything their parents, or their teachers, or society, or I say. 5. Do you believe in God/a higher power/the Force/Truth/etc.? Yes. And if you're expecting a longer answer, you should have asked a smore specific question.
